Brave Bears ("we", "us", "our") is a trading name of Mensmind Pty Ltd (ABN 56 666 456 337), based in Queensland, Australia. We sell plush bears online at bravebears.com. We care about your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Orders: your name, email address, phone number and shipping address, collected on our secure checkout page (hosted by Stripe) so we can process, deliver and support your order.
- Gift messages: any message you add in your bag. We print it and post it with the bear, and keep it with the order record.
- Accounts: if you create an account, your email address, display name, wishlist and sign-in dates. Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication โ we never see or store it.
- Contact messages: your name, email address and whatever you write when you use our contact form.
- Newsletter: your email address if you sign up to hear from us.
- Promo codes: codes you enter, so the discount can be checked and applied.
Payment information
Card and other payment details are entered directly into Stripe's secure checkout. Stripe processes them under its own privacy policy and security standards; we do not receive or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically
- Site analytics: pages you visit, how you arrived (for example a link or an ad), buttons you click, how far you scroll, and basic device and browser details. We use this to understand what helps people find the right bear and to improve the site.
- Advertising measurement: we use the Meta Pixel and Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics, which may use cookies or similar technologies to measure visits and purchases from our ads.
- Browser storage: your bag, gift message, shipping choice and any applied promo code are saved in your browser's local storage so they're still there when you come back. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
2. How we use your information
- To process payments, pack and deliver orders, and print and include gift messages.
- To provide customer support and answer your questions.
- To run your account and wishlist.
- To send you news and offers if you've subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To understand how the site is used, improve it, and measure our advertising.
- To prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations, such as tax and consumer-law record keeping.
3. Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Brave Bears, and only as needed:
- Stripe โ secure payments and checkout.
- Google Firebase โ website hosting, our database, accounts and analytics storage.
- Meta and Google โ advertising measurement and site analytics.
- Australia Post and other carriers โ delivering your order.
- Professional advisers or authorities where required by law.
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We use reputable providers with appropriate safeguards, but by using our site you acknowledge that your information may be handled overseas.
4. Cookies and your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and use your Meta and Google ad settings to limit personalised ads. Some parts of the site โ such as remembering your bag โ may not work properly if browser storage is turned off.
5. Children
Our bears are made for all ages, but our website and purchases are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
6. Keeping your information safe
We use trusted, secure platforms (encrypted connections, access controls) and keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law. Order records are kept for tax and consumer-law purposes.
7. Access, correction and deletion
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. You can update your account details on your account page, or contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
8. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first so we can put it right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
